From pasture to forest
What was once open pastureland has slowly transformed through years of reforestation, becoming a thriving secondary forest. Today, the land is alive—home to birds, wildlife, and the quiet rhythms of the jungle. Perched high in the hills of La Balsa, with wide views of the Golfo Dulce and a cooler mountain climate.

Our farm café. No fixed menu: we cook what the land gives today. Bread baked here, farm eggs, soup from the harvest, salad from the garden. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, by reservation only.

Cook over the wood fire with María at El Fogón, or walk the garden, harvest and share the table at Del Campo a la Mesa. Two ways to live the farm with your hands.

I have been part of this dream since it began, almost 21 years ago. Different people have imprinted their energy on this land over the years, and today I carry its spirit: I operate the lodge and cook at Alma Tierra, where I'm living my dream of farming our own food, raising our animals, and cooking with what they give us.
My philosophy is simple: nourish the body with love, good energy, and the best ingredients in season. Bring joy for a moment, so people leave happy and full with everything this land provides.
My wish is for you to come, be in this space, and find what you really need, something that goes beyond what I know, but is very much in tune with what the land can give you.
María · Kitchen & heart of the house
María is full of joy, tradition, spice, and uniqueness. She has cooked beside me for three seasons. She raises her chickens, adores the goats and the cows, and loves cooking with what they give her. She makes her own spices and her own bread. She also harmonizes the rooms and keeps everything beautiful. She's a little shy in English, but she's full of flavor, and her big heart speaks for her.

Quiet, respectful, and kind, Sergio cares for our animals and our garden. He loves these hills, his home, and this project, and he walks beside us to make it all happen.
