Rooms and shared bathrooms are lit with rechargeable lamps, provided at check-in. The main lodge has limited fixed lighting.
Charging stations and electrical outlets are available in the common areas. Wi-Fi is also available in shared spaces.
Access to the lodge is via a dirt road suitable for 4×4 vehicles only. The journey is part of arriving—slow, rural, and deeply connected to the land.

How do I get to Balsa Nueva?

Balsa Nueva is located in the Osa Peninsula, near Puerto Jiménez.
From San José, you can reach the area in several ways:
• By local flight: Daily domestic flights connect San José with Puerto Jiménez.
• By car: Rental cars are available in San José. The drive takes approximately 6–7 hours, depending on route and conditions.
• By bus: Public buses run from San José to Puerto Jiménez.
• Via Golfito: You can travel by bus to Golfito and cross the Golfo Dulce by fast boat to Puerto Jiménez.
Once in Puerto Jiménez, access to Balsa Nueva is via a dirt road and requires a 4×4 vehicle.
If you’re not driving yourself, we’re happy to help arrange transportation from Puerto Jiménez or nearby locations. Detailed arrival instructions are shared after booking.
